About Chiguru Farm

Chiguru Farm is a 15-acre active natural farm nestled on the fringes of the Bilikal Forest, just south of Bannerghatta National Park. Located about 40 km from the NICE Road–Kanakapura Road junction, the farm is roughly a 90-minute drive from South Bengaluru — close enough for a day’s retreat, yet far enough to feel worlds away.

Protected by a solar fence to ensure harmony with the occasional wildlife from the surrounding forest, the farm stands as a peaceful coexistence between cultivation and nature.

  • Sustainable living isn’t a concept here — it’s how we live every day.
  • All grey water from kitchens, baths, and handwashing is carefully filtered and redirected through drip irrigation to nourish our trees.
  • Every bit of wet waste is composted. Nothing organic leaves the farm without going back to the soil.
  • The food served at Chiguru Farm is largely prepared using ingredients grown on the land itself — fresh, seasonal, and deeply local.
  • We work closely with local villagers, who are part of our extended farm family — from cultivation to cooking to housekeeping.
  • We actively harvest rainwater and recharge groundwater, ensuring that every drop is valued and returned to the earth responsibly.
  • Above all, we love sharing what we practice. Through conversations and experiences, we encourage visitors to take small, meaningful steps toward sustainable living in their own lives.
What We Grow

Chiguru Farm is primarily a horticulture farm with a wide variety of fruit trees. During the monsoon, seasonal vegetables, grains, pulses, and select spices are cultivated across the fields.
We are a wildlife-friendly, cow-based natural farm practicing a thoughtful blend of:
Subhash Palekar Natural Farming (SPNF)
Permaculture
Agroforestry
All rooted in the broader philosophy of organic farming.
The farm has been completely chemical-free since 2015.

A Living Ecosystem

All pathways across the farm are lined with teak trees, adding a quiet romance to every walk. Just outside the farm lies a small public pond that holds water throughout the year.
Within the farm, we have built three water harvesting bodies designed to collect and store rainwater during the monsoon.

The drainage channels are carefully structured to direct rainwater into these storage ponds. Since their construction, nearby village ponds have retained water year-round — strengthening the larger ecosystem around us.

Natural Farming Practices

We rely only on chemical-free inputs such as farmyard manure, compost, and neem cake when required.
To maintain crop health naturally, we use:
Companion planting (like chillies and marigold between crops)
Pheromone fly traps
Solar light traps
These methods help prevent pest damage without resorting to synthetic pesticides.
